The basics of this service

What the test is for

ABPM gives an accurate, realistic picture of your blood pressure under normal daily and nighttime conditions.

It is recommended for:

  • Confirming or ruling out a diagnosis of hypertension
  • Detecting "white coat" hypertension (blood pressure elevated only in a clinical setting)
  • Assessing the effectiveness of a blood pressure treatment
  • Monitoring blood pressure changes during daily activities and sleep
  • Better understanding symptoms such as dizziness, headaches or discomfort

How it works, simply put

A cuff is fitted on your arm and connected to a small portable device worn on a belt or shoulder strap. The device automatically takes measurements at regular intervals over 24 hours (every 30 minutes during the day and hourly at night).
